Toyota Corolla 98 model. 130K mileage.
Both front windows are not working. It started few days ago, when they were working intermittently. While opening, no problem but for closing it took a long time. And then after some days, it was not opening or closing at all.
I had shown it to the mechanic. He tested and said Motor, Regulators are OK, but master switch needs to be replaced. This switch is 320$ worth.
Can this be possible? What is this master switch?
Can there be any possibility for this kind of malfunction?

Thanks.

Better check the power fuse 30amp. And the gauge fuse 10amp behind left side of dash at lower finish panel.

This one when it goes out (Power window relay ) nothing is gonna happen its located on the driver side R/B.

It sounds more like the master switch, what about the back 2 windows are they working?

Thanks for the quick reply.
Yes, both rear windows are working.

Does this master switch cost so much? Will it be ok if I get it from Used parts dealers?

Thanks.

Check for 12V at the main switch on drivers side. The master switch may be bad affecting the circuit.

If not then post results and I will look for a wiring diagram in Mitchell 5.

When I rolled my driver's side window down today, there was a thudding noise like it fell into the door. When I tried pushing the button to roll it back up, there was a noise like it was cracked. All of my other automatic windows are working fine. I've read responses about the window regulator, fuses, etc. However, it sounded like my window detached from whatever was holding it up. Ideas? Thanks!

You hear the motor working when pushing the switch
Most common it’s the window regulator
I’m almost 100 % + it’s the regulator
But you can pull the door panel and check the operation of the window
And you can check if the glass had falling of the regulator
So you need to remove the door panel
Start on it
Good luck
