Engine Mechanical problem
1992 Toyota Corolla 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Manual

hi my car engine is 20 years old. It has started consuming oil. I add oil treatment in it. Now am asking is it ok to rebuild the engine or change it with a second hand one. Cost of both is the same. My engine was rebuilt 2 times. It has high idle and oil seeps through spark plug cylinder at bottom even I changed head oil seals. It consumed half the oil in its pan. Will the change improve fuel economy? It does 60 km per gallon now.

I would replace with used engine.

You can find what are called JDM engines on ebay.

These are Japanese engines, usually low miles, taken from Japanese cars and imported to U.S.

I replaced one with a JDM engine 3 years ago and it still runs good, uses NO oil.
