The shop doing the head work on my Camry, said 70 75 80? Foot pounds of torque on the head. The problem is four of the bolt casings polled out of the block. I called a dealer they said 58 f/p/t on bolts. Is there an additional 90 degree turn after 85 f/p/t has been reached?

By the way, they quoted me 2,500 to 3,000 for work.
Blown head gasket, machined head, reset valves, new timing belt. (?)
With a new top end on, will this make the bottom end week?
100,000 miles on this car.
Thank you for your time.
Darrin.

Hi there,

the head tension should be 38Ft Lb (47 Nm) then a further 90Deg they have over tensioned the bolts. Also new torque to yield bolts must be used, if the bottom end is in poor condition oil consumption may occur due to the increased compression.
