The rear brake warning light (on the dash) lights up and stays lit after I press the brake pedal. I tried changing all four brake bulbs (1157) in the back to no avail. I suspect the problem is the warning light elecronic module, whichI found hidden behind the carpet in the trunk. If so, how can I test this modeule to verify it is the problem? Any ideas would be appreciated. Thank you.

Hello,

This issue could be due to a faulty brake light switch or wiring for the brake light warning module.

First check the brake light switch. It is located under the dash on the brake pedal lever. When the brake pedal gets depressed, the switch gets triggered and turns on the light. This switch is connected to the module. So, it is possible for this to trigger the light out warning. It could be shorting out as the switch gets pressed.

I have attached wiring schematics for your reference.

Please let me know of any questions.
Thank you.
