1991 Camry wont shift out of 1st?

what can be the cause of a no shift condtion? Manual shifting still has no effect. Trans stays in 1st n matter what you do. What should I do 1st?

Have you checked your trans fluid levels? When waws it changed last?

I found that mine sticks in shifting when the fluid got low or was real old. Just a thought.

Have these check: ECT/TPS/VSS sensors they are part of the transmission operation to include the shift solenoids in the tranny.

Do a fluid and filter change and see what happens

where is the vss and ect located? Wouldnt the vss be near the cv axle (outer part) with a wire to sense pulse? The ect is be on the block some where 2 wire?

The VSS is at the tranny and ECT engine coolant temperature is somewhere near the thermostat housing
