Transmission problem
1990 Toyota 4Runner 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Manual

The vehicle does not shift easily. Especially when you first start out. Reverse is really hard and sometimes you have to move forward then put it in reverse and finding 1st is hard in the beginning. After the vehicle warms up, it shifts better. Not perfect but much smoother. Is it just a part of the clutch I can replace? The whole clutch is spendy.

No I did not check the fluid. The pedal feels fine like it should. I wish I had a manual to this vehicle.
Where would I look, since it is a manual tranny?

Sorry for the delay,

The drain and fill for the tranny are on driver side of the tranny. They will either look like a square sticking out (male) or they will square going in (female). One will be higher on the tranny them the other, the high on will be the fill. To check remove plug if fluid starts coming out then it is full, If not then using your finger stick just the tip of it into the hole and just bent it down just a little maybe a 1/4 inch then pull finger out without touching sides. If have fluid on finger then tranny is full. If you have to stick your finger in more than half way and don't get fluid on finger then tranny is low. While there also look for signs of leakage.
