The tensioner has oil passing along the plunger when the engine is turning over. Is this normal? The timing chain remains tight with no slack.

Hello,

Yes this is normal. This is what keeps the chain oiled so that it can operate properly. If you have any other vehicle related questions, please, feel free to ask. It's what we do and why we are here.

Thanks,
Alex

Is the tensioner weak losing oil pressure? Could it collapse?
