Are those coolant or vacuum hoses? They look like a vacuum section. To the right, it should go to near the air box and the left to EVAP.

Let me know.

So yesterday went to junkyard to find one still intact and found it. But still surprised out of both books could not find the line that goes on top from radiator to overflow and the 3 lines of vacuum. I found the line that goes to injectors but it was brittle and has a hole. So going to find one to replace it then I can continue on.

So looking online for a replacement for the hose that is no good for the vacuum line from fuel regulator to the surge tank. Only place I could find a replacement was from mcmastercarr and I need to find the id and od of the hose to be able to order the correct one is there a way to find out what a normal one runs on average?

Is it a rubber hose? That should be something you could get from any parts store. If you have the old one, take it to a parts store and ask if they can get you the same size. That should be typical vacuum hose. It runs from the plenum (surge tank) to the regulator, correct?

Yes, I found a hose that works. Put that on and reassembled most of the top part of the motor and back to timing. So tonight the plan is to set time reassemble to complete and run cheap oil and new filter for 5 minutes then drain and change filter, then put new oil in and run for 10 minutes with motor flush drain and run through a fine filter to see how much metal is still in the system. If a lot still put back through with a new filter I figured the first oil out back in will be contaminated with the mineral spirits and coolant that leaked when pulling the head so after first run. I’ll keep changing oil and straining until no metal. New filters every time since they are only 3 dollars or if you have any suggestions would greatly appreciate it. Thanks for all the help.

I'm glad you found the hose. As far as the oil, make sure everything is fully drained from the oil pan before installing the new oil. When you time the engine, take your time and make sure it is correct. You don't want to do it again. LOL

Let me know if you need anything and how things turn out for you.

Take care,
Joe

Plan is I have over half gallon of mineral spirit left. If I drain all oil now and then put plug in an put something over the oil filter hole if I dump mineral spirits into oil cap will it run all the way down to oil pan and flush the rest out or should I pull it and make sure to clean it all? If I can just flush would be a lot easier but also don’t want to do all this and then ruin not just what I replaced but next time might be both or a complete engine.

I have to be honest. I never heard of using mineral spirits. I have heard of people that use kerosene to flush an engine. Anything you pour into the oil fill will drain into the oil pan. However, it will not make its way to the oil pump, oil galleries, and so on.

I have heard of people that drain the oil on old vehicles, top off to the full level with kerosene, start the engine for about 5 seconds, and then drain it. I'm told that really gets everything cleaned out, but I have never done it and can't confirm.

Okay, so last night was a long one. Set time finished, all assemble drained all fluids that was left in engine. Poured mineral spirits and let sit for couple minutes then drained, then filled everything back and added motor flush to the oil. First start up it struggled like no fuel. I’m guessing since there is no valve to let the air out of the injectors. Turned on and off a few times then tried again with a timer of 5 minutes ran. Good drained and changed oil and filter then fired up for 25 minutes to let get to temperature and check all for leaking and was all good. I greatly appreciate all the help and appreciate all the suggestions so from now on out it is little things to be put back on. Thanks again
