How to realign timing marks

Timing belt is off car how do I realign timing marks? Left bank cam timing mark is correct right bank cam timing mark 8 teeth of. Not sure about crank. Gear is seized to harmonic balancer.

Good morning,

I am concerned. if it is off 8 teeth, you may have damaged the valves.

When you get the timing belt back on correctly, you will need to do a compression test to verify no valve damage.

Car was running fine. Was changing water pump and took belt off before ling up marks.

You need to set the marks as shown and then install the belt.

Yes, do the cams first and then the crankshaft.

I was told it is an interference motor and I cannot do that.

Do not line up the crank gear, turn it to the right about 90 degrees.

Then line up the cams and then put the crank to the correct mark.

Okay, turned right bank cam. The one that was 8 teeth off. It sprang 8 teeth the other way.

You need to get it on the mark. It will stay there. Otherwise you will need to get a cam locking tool to hold the cams from turning. You can get one or rent one at a parts store to secure the cams in the correct position.

As I stated before, if it will not stay, then you will need to get a cam locking tool from a parts store. You can rent one from them as well.

Got cam marks set cannot find mark on motor anywhere for crank. Plus I am putting new crank gear on due to old one being stuck to harmonic balancer.

There is a sheet metal plate behind gear that has a notch in it but it is not set it turns freely.
