When the A/C is turned on and the engine is idling it blows cold air. As soon as the engine is revved both radiator cooling fans stop blowing and the high pressure switch cuts off the compressor. It resets after a couple seconds and then trips again. If I let the car come back down to an idle the cooling fans will come on again after about a minute and the compressor comes back on and the A/C starts blowing cold air again. What would cause the fans to shut off except when the engine is idling?

The problem with mine turned out to be that it was overcharged. I had used a cheap low side gauge that came with a can of freon to add some to the car. That gauge showed that it was still on the low end of the charged range. When I hooked a quality set of A/C manifold gauges to the system both sides were reading too high showing it was overcharged. Getting it recharged to the correct level fixed the problem.
