The transmission does not want to shift. The rpm's will be about 3500 and shift, if I let off the gas it would shift sometimes too. We went to a parts store they suggested we replace the variable speed sensor. We did, but it still will not shift correctly.

Then I would go to a exhaust shop and have them do a back pressure test. If you have a restriction in the catalytic converter that can cause that to happen. Really doubt a transmission service will do much for the problem your having. Have you checked for codes in the computer yet?

They do not do the free code reads at the auto parts store in your state? I know in California they no longer do. Also have the back pressure test done there is a good chance that is the cause.
