Engine Mechanical problem
1994 Saturn SL1 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 103k miles

hello,
I bought my car 2 or 3 years ago when it had 99k miles on it. Now my check engine light is on, my speedometer and miles counter dont work, and my a/c doesnt cool any longer. I took it to the mechanic and he told me that my ac compressor belt was worn out and cracked hence the reason for the ac not working. But the check engine light he said because of the year of my car could be anything.
can someone help me please or offer any suggestions?
thnk you in advance.

As far as ur speedometer not telling how many miles u have gone that's a common problem there's a little plastic gear in there that breaks that drives it. Now ur a/c not working doesn't have anything to do with ur belt cracking u only have one belt and if it breaks u will not have powersteering alternator everything will stop spinning ur a/c has other issues. As far as ur service engine soon light goes I need to find out what codes u have. Sounds like u need a new person to fix ur car he doesn't sound like he knows much about cars. See if u can get ur codes read at autoZone or some place like that also they code readers don't cost that much u can even get a cheap little fork key that flashes the codes out with ur service engine soon light. Let me know what u find.
