Ground wire from battery to engine block was off (i did n't know it was) attempted to start and smoked a small ground wire comming out the harness after replacing battery ground to block engine turns over but won't start

Lets start from the begining why was the wire off to begin with. Also was that the wire closest to the radiator on that stud comming off the bolt holding the transmission to the engine block. If it was and the small wire was damaged then u really need to repair that its the ground for ur cooling fan motor and it wont work and ur car will over heat. But I would start by looking at all ur fuses in ur underhood fuse box especially the big green maxi fuses like the ignition ones. Please answer my questions and let me know what u find. Also do u know how to check fuses.
