Electrical problem
1999 Saturn SC2 4 cyl Automatic 177,00 miles

Hello,
I have a 1999 Saturn sc2 coupe, The problem I'm having for the first time with this car ,started this winter. One day I went out to start the car it wouldn't crank up and I noticed ,while I was turning the key in the ignition the car would make a ticking sound like a clock, about an half hour later it would start right up. Then mabe a few weeks later after a couple of stops it would do the same thing again. I was told it was my battery, I changed my battery. shortly after that, I replaced the altentator. it has a new crank shaft, new igintion coil, new ignition switch.Took out the stater and took it to auto zone, i was concerned because first the guy look like he had problems working the machine, then it appeared he got it started. he tested it twice and it read that the battery was good. I'm frustrated, because I have always keep this car serviced! one of the last times I've tried it it still won't start, I hate to get rid of it because all of the money I've put into it. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
DESPORADO!

So it went "tick' when you tried to start it?Could be a bad starter/solenoid. Check for 12 volts at the small wire on the starter with key in crank position. If it has power then the starter needs to be replaced.Just because it tested ok, doesnt mean it doesnt have a bad spot in the solenoid keeping it from working on occasion
