The lights you are seeing on your dash is telling you there is a problem with the coolant level. The level could be low or the sensor could be bad. Have you checked the coolant level?

Low coolant wouldn't cause problem's with your transmission. Your car isn't running hot is it?The first thing I would check was your transmission fluid level. You check that idling with the car warmed up on flat level surface. Have you checked for code's yet?I would also check your coolant level if it's low then top it off the best place to fill it to is the seam of the bottle. If it's not low on coolant I will tell you how to trouble shoot the system. If your car is burning a quart a week then your oil ring's are worn. You could try lucas oil stabilizer to slow down the burn but that's alot of oil. Let me know what you find.
