1995 saturn sl2 92,000 miles 1.9 I have 2 questions. One is about the shield cover over the exhaust pipe in center of car. Its loose and rattling. I have looked and saw some of the shield has come loose and I dont know what the fasteners are called. Also have a question about the transmission, every once in awhile the car will revv up while driving. Some times it happens when you step on the gas. It will only stop revving when you come to a complete stop and car gears down. Or could this be a fuel filter problem? Doesnt happen all the time. Could go for weeks before it happens, then will do this a few times then quit again for awhile. Any help?

Hey Dawn,

The heat shield fasteners might best be identified by a photo or if you can remove one and take it to a local autoparts store.

The high idle is possibly attributed to a coolant temperature sensor (ECTS) that is failing. Under $20.00 from Saturn for the updated all brass tip design. Easy to replace. Check out this link.

Good luck and let us know. :)

The fasteners I have found out are called push nuts. And come in a varity if sizes. I changed the cooling temp sensor and it did not fix my problem. Could this be related to the trans filter being plugged?
