Replacing the top idler pulley, where is the third motor mount located?

Can anyone tell me where the third motor mount is located? I got the front passenger top mount and the front lower center mount. The engine needs another half inch clearance to clear the fender well. This is a job I wish I hadn't started. But it's too far along to back up now.
Thanks. JC.

The car listed above is a GXE.

Hi,

I looked for locations, and there is nothing in my manuals. So, I looked up an exploded view for the engine removal. I see your frustration. LOL

I attached the exploded view for you below. Take a look at it and let me know if that helps.

Take care,

joe

Thanks Joe. Unfortunately, the illustration doesn't make much sense to me because there's too much to take in. If you know what I mean. Common sense tells me front side top. And the back side of engine. My thing is if I unbolt the engine completely and jack it up six inches, it's going to be a real job getting the motor line back up when I let it back down. I think that is going to be a two-man job, I'm about ready to get myself a cheap porta power if I can get in between the fender well and block and push that fender in half an inch. I'd even consider cutting a hole, but that area is double walled and I'm not sure what I would use. And I don't want to compromise the strength of support to the top motor mount. JC

Hi,

Things like this should never happen. I don't know why they design them like this. Do me a favor. Take a couple of pics so I can see exactly what you are dealing with. Hopefully, I can come up with an idea.

Joe

Joe, I was disgusted and put the tire back on and the jack down. Later I decided to give it one last try so this time I did not jack the whole car up, just the engine. Much to my surprise I had room to spare, I don't understand what difference that made but I was very happy. I'd also like you to know the third mount sits behind the engine on top of what I assume to be cross member sits on top and in the middle and a real pain to get to. So glad I didn't have to unbolt it. I asked a new question, maybe you can help me with it. The new pulley inside diameter was bigger than the original. I got to look and the original one had a race inside the enclosed bearing. I removed that from the factory bearing and it fit right in the new bearing. Is this the norm or did they give me the wrong pulley? There were three different priced pulleys, mine was not the cheapest but not the most expensive either. I paid 28.00 instead of 40.00. What I'm asking is should I take it back? It's on the engine but it's so easy to get to now I can remove it if need be. Maybe the aftermarket pulleys don't come with race because you use the old one. I don't like that idea and what if the old race was damaged? Thanks. Joe

Hi,

Wow, that is good news. I'm glad you were able to get it. As far as the bearing is concerned, I would return it. You don't want to run a new bearing on an old race. If your luck is like mine, it will fail.

Let me know how things turn out for you.

Take care,

Joe
