2000 Renault Clio Front Wheel Drive Manual 8000 miles

hi, I have a renault clio year is 2000. I have problems with my car starting up. I have changed the spark plugs and still have problems. The car starts most of the time, but orcanally it will not start. Its always ok in the morning but now and again it plays up. It can be ok for upto a week. I always have petol. Could it be the TDC sensor. Where would I find it on my car. Thanks.

The tdc sensor is located on the top of the gearbox above the flywheel which is located against the engine block. It is secured by two 10mm bolts usually and has a small wiring block connected to it. They are known for building up a resistance over time and having to be replaced. You might have to lift the airbox out of the way on some models, but its generally not too fiddly to do.
