My car seems to run fine until my check engine light starts to blink, then I have more acceleration, and the vehicle wont go over 30 or 40 mph. It usually passes in a few minutes, but does this several times per day.

Hi Ashley,

A blinking check engine light is indicating potential catastrophic damage is being done to the engine or exhaust due to a bad misfire. When the light is flashing you should not be driving or running the engine.

The lack of power is most likely the PCM derating the engine due to the potential damage.

You will have codes in the computer so I would suggest with pulling those first. A parts store can pull them for you if you don't have a scan tool. If you are not going to work on this yourself, I would suggest getting this looked at ASAP because if it continues, it could turn a relatively small repair into a very costly repair.

Please let me know if you have any questions or let me know what the codes are and we can go from there. Thanks
