I have a 98 pontiac sunfire with a 2.4L engine. It has approx. 185,000 km. It was running fine but all of a sudden it doesn't want to fire up every start? Sometimes it can take as many as 10-15 attempts to get it to start. I can hear the fuel pump turn on and after this many attempts I can smell a bit of fuel. I changed the spark plugs and the rubber boots for them but still no success. Could this be a problem withe the coil pack(s)? Is there something else you would suggest checking or is there any way to determine the actual problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I hae new issues. I was looking under the hood while a friend tried to start the engine and I nioticed a small amount of smoke coming from the belt. Immediatly I thought it was the A/C compressor seized but it didn't make sense because the car runs fine when it does start and the A/C blows cold. I now have it so it will start consecutive attempts but the A/C compressor is making a rattling noise. The A/C still blows cold. Can anyone tell me what could cause this and do you think it is related to my no start problem? Thanks again.
