Heater problem
2004 Pontiac Montana 93148 miles

MY HEATER IN MY VAN ALL OF A SUDDEN STARTED BLOWING COOL AIR, NOT GETTING HOT AT ALL. ONE PERSON SAID IT WAS THE THEMASTAT, MY TEMP. GAUGE HAS WHEN UP AND DOWN ON OCCASION BUT I WAS WONDERING IF IT COULD BE THE HEATER CORE OR COULD IT BE THE THERMASTAT, OR DOES THE THEMASTAT HAVE ANYTHING TO WITH THE HEATER BLOWING HOT AIR. THANKS VERY MUCH

First check the coolant level or have it checked, most oil change type stations will check free. Usually a heater core failure will result in coolant smell in cabin or wet floorboard, also a milky film on the inside of the windsheild can be a symptom. Thermastat does regulate engine coolant temp so it does have something to do with the heater, but usually you will have high engine temps if thermastat is not working. Have coolant checked first.
