Engine problem
1991 Pontiac Grand Prix Engine Size unknown Wheel Drive Type unknown Automatic 100, 00 miles

recently my car has been dying out while driving. Autozone says it might be the egr valve needs to be replaced. The car is sitting but it starts after awhile when my father in law messes with the vacuum hoses sometimes the car will idle back down and be fine for a little while. Could this be the egr valve?

My car is doin the exact same thing and someone told me that it might be too much air goin into the engine through the vacuum hose and causing an uneven gas/air mix.

Try finding a hose where too much air might b goin through to the engine

EGR is not supposed to flow at idle or low RPM. It will cause the engine to die if excessive flow happens.

If EGR is connected to vacuum line, check the hose for cracks.

Before replacing, remove and clean the EGR pintle and base.
