When starting car, there is a rattle on the underside that sounds to be coming from the front end. The rattle continues in idle and during low rpms, but ceases after accelerating. Turning the a/c on makes it sound much worse. I suspect either the catalytic converter or possibly the heat shield. Any ideas? Will it be possible to do the repairs myself?

Hi:
Most likely it's the heat shield. Take a rubber mallot and tap on the exhaust system. If it's the shield, get a couple large band clamps and tighten them around it.
