I have 2001 Pontiac Trans Am with high idle problem. Any time the engine is started the engine idle is normal (800RPM). While shifting the car(cutch disengaged), if the RPM is raised above 2400RPM the engine idle will remain at this RPM and slowly lower to about 1500RPM. I have checked throttle cable for kinks and binding. None found. I have checked the throttle plate for sticking and binding. None found. I have replaced the air idel valve. No effect. I checked for vacume leaks. None found.

Please advise what else I should look for.

Check the pcv valve system....I take it that the car has a 5.7 liter engine???
Did it just start doing this all at once or was something done to the car and then it started doing this?
