Hi,

I have a Nissan Note E11 from 2007 which recently displayed P0340 error and presented weird functionality such as :
- after starting the engine is going up and down between 1000-2000 rpm
- the engine stops unexpectedly during driving
I took the car to Nissan dealership and they said the ECM and camshaft sensor are fine but they heard specific noise from the timing chain which should be checked/replaced.
Any advice on what should I do next? Its worth trying to change the Camshaft sensor first?

We dont' have that car in U.S. But if dealer said the sensor is ok then it is a waste of money to replace it. It sounds as if the chain is worn and needs to be replaced or the cam phaser is bad if it has one. So best be t here is to check the chain or tensioners as they are probably in need of it. If your chain Breaks or jumps timehowever you may bend valves in engine due to it probably being an interference motor. So would be wise to fix it.
