My car has been using a little water/antifreeze every day, not much. Other day it overheated due to bottom hose coming loose on radiator. Fixed hose added water then it overheated again. I changed the thermostat then found out the radiator blew. I changed the radiator. Still overheating not at an idle, but once you start going down the road heats right back up with fans going.

Check coolant system for an internal leak like ahead gasket. Auto parts rent it. If you see no leaks then it is probably that. There is also a chemical for purchase to add to coolant either one is good.

More than likely if it is using water, but check to make sure especially since it has been using coolant.
