It recently overheated and made some grinding and knocking noise. Overheated again, wouldn’t start, then gave it a jump and started long enough to get it parked to figure out what's wrong. Ordered a heater control valve changed that to new. Leaking towards the rear of the engine still. Won't start but acts like it’s wanting to but eventually battery drains trying. Code gave off coolant air leak. Could the head gasket valves need replaced?

It sounds like it overheated too severely which will cause the rings and pistons to be damaged and not hold compression. can I ask what the engine sounds like when cranking does it sounds like flipper? Can you please upload a short video of the engine cranking so I can tell if the engine is any good, that will be the fastest way to get to the bottom of the problem. Please go over this guide as well:

If you don't want to do a video let's run a compression test before we go any further.

Please upload pictures or videos of the problem so we can see what's going on.
