A/C cluch does not engage and compressor does not start

Fan on high, a/c turned on, a/c cluch does NOT engage and compressor does not start.

Tried again 1 hour later, compressor goes on and cooling is normal. Relay or something else?

It could be a relay. Check to make sure the wiring at the clutch is good. If this happens again, check to see if the compressor clutch is getting power. If it is, the clutch is going bad. If there is no power, check connections and the relay, as you mentioned.

Glad to help. Please remember, if the Freon is low enough, the low pressure switch won't engage the compressor. That's just another thought.
