OK well I have read a varitey of tings on what could hav happened and I am trying to find more info for my fiance. He just bought a 1980 old toronado from a guy about 3 weeks ago and it ran good when we got it. Then it just stop and lot all of its power out random. So when my fiance and a family member whn to jump start the car the cables accidently were crossed and it started smoking and burnt up the cable wires but I dont know if it affected the battery wires. After this happened we had a guy check it out and he said he didnt see anything seriously wrong with it and it might just be the battery so we went and bought a new battery and it didnt start but we did get power for the lights to come on but when you go to start the car it would click like it wanted to do something but it would and then we would loose the power we did have so my question is I have read that it wuld be the main fuse the starter the battery wires the alternator and than when I went to kragen that had mentioned that it could be the relay switch I dont know much about cars but I am learning pretty quick. I guess my true question is I need a opinion about what it may be and what I should be looking for it to be that way I can find out what it is and how should I go about finding out what it is. And how can I tell what it is. Any information or knowlegde on this would help me out
