Hi.
I have a 96 Oldsmobile Ciera, V6. Iwas driving the otehr day and noticed my Battery light was on in the car. I drove with it on for about 2 days. Then at one point my stereo turned off, my lights were dimming and I felt the car getting close to shutting off. It was losingp power quickly. I parked it in the gas station. It wouldn't start after that. Then, I had my buddy come and jumpstart it for me. I made it about 1/2 a block and it lost power and cut off. Any suggestion for me? Is this a battery or alternator problem. Or both? Pls help. Thank you.

Your alternator is dead replace it along with the belt and if you looking to be cheap about it you can just put the battery on a charger for a night or to do it right buy a new battery also should fix it up for you. If you try and charge the old battery with the alternator though you run the risk of burning out the alternator because there not made to charge a dead one but rather keep it at peak. Good luck :)
