Engine Mechanical problem
1991 Other Oldsmobile Models V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic 170000 miles
I have a 1991 olds wagon with a 305 msd distributor.
The car started normal and ran about 2 to 3 seconds,then it stalled.When I tried to restart it,it rolled over hard like it jumped time.I changed the cap and rotor,it made no difference.Due to the mileage I tore the front off and checked the timing chain.The chain was baddly worn,but did not jump time.Iput a new timing chain and gears in.This made no differnce.
I am getting spark and fuel,but it will not run.It sounds like I am getting pre-ignition.Can you give me some things to check?How can I test the ECM?The spark is not in time.Thank You

you'll have to check with msd on how to check their system. Just type in their system and there should be something there to show you or whoever checks it. I know msd has had a few problems with some systems.
