How difficult to remove the top part of the seal in the block. Was told its a rope style. Any special tools or is it easier to just R@R the engine? Thanks. Mark

Hi there,

This is a rope type seal and can be replaced in situ. I do prefer to do it the old fashion way and remover the engine, and do it as it was intended. They should be packed in, now you can still pack the bearing in place, but old mechanics like doing things there way. With the engine out you can inspect all the bearings as well, and replace if required. It's just a matter of choice really.
