Transmission problem
2002 Oldsmobile Aurora V8 Front Wheel Drive Automatic
My car suddenly wouldn't move forward, had reverse no drive. A couple weeks before electrical had issues, back locks, windows wouldn't work, messages of doors open, only metric measurents for mileage etc. Shop says I need new transmission, had no previous leaks etc., any chance electrical is connected? Thanks, a mom in a panic!

If you had electrical failure of some sort, you would have reverse, and also you would have some form of forward motion. It is meant as a fail-safe or limp home. The question is what condition and level the fluid is in. Have you tried all select forward ranges from manual 1 to OD, and still nothing? I would suspect a broken forward sprag clutch or something internal. You may have some debris in the pan when removed.
