2002 Oldsmobile Alero Repair Question
2002 Oldsmobile Alero Sunroof
2002 Oldsmobile Alero 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 111000 miles
My sunroof is stuck in the vent open position and will not close. The sunroof continues to open and close regularly, but the vent stays open. I assume this is an electrical problem and replaced the fuse for the sunroof, but it did nothing. Can you let me know if you have seen this before and what i can do to fix it.
Answer
I'm not quite sure what you mean by the "vent" is stuck open. Please clarify.

By vent position I mean that the sunroof can open two ways: Vent and Open/Close. The vent goes up first then the whole sunroof opens. I closed my sunroof one day and the unit moved back, but the vent position did not close. So when you look at my car, the sunroof is sticking up in the vent position.
There is a limit switch that closes the sunroof beyond the vent point, but according to the diagram, I don't believe this is the problem. I suspect the problem is in the control module.

Is the control module something that can be switched out like a fuse or is this something I may have to take to a mechanic
The control is behind the access panel switch unit. It's just a "plug in" situation.
