Just bought this car that has not been driven for about two years. I completely ran the car on that two year old gas before I refueled.

Check engine light came on after a few miles, then I tightened my gas cap and the light went off.
I refueled again and the check engine light came back after a few miles.
Used an OBDII scanner that identified the error code "PO430" as catalyst system efficiency below threshold (Bank 2).
I cleared this code.
Check engine light comes back on each time I refuel.

Car drives absolutely fine and normal.

should I be worried?
How much would this problem cost to repair?

Good morning.

The 430 code is for a bad catalytic converter. It is the bank 2 converter or the drivers side. The precious metals inside the catalytic converter are not doing there job anymore. It does need to be replaced.

As far as cost, the converter is about $200.00 and the labor is about $100.00 to $125.00. Any shop can perform this repair.
