The check engine light comes on intermittently while driving with no unsual noises or smells and car seems to be running fine with plenty of power. Gas mileage is good. When light comes on we pull over and turn the ignition off and wait about 30 seconds and when we restart the check engine light goes off. We recently had the oil changed and cleaned the mass air flow sensor. We are currently not at home - on the road and wondering if we need to worry. Thanks.

Hello
Thanks for the donation.

If the engine light is coming on intermittently, it may be that the component is slowly failing and causing the light to appear occasionally. The next time your engine light appears, (if you are near any stores) go to a part store such as AutoZone or Advance Auto Parts and they can scan for the code free of charge. This will help diagnosis the culprit of the engine light. If the vehicle is operating normal and all fluids check out good, it is probably a sensor starting to malfunction. There are thousands of vehicles that run perfect, but still have the annoying engine light illuminating.
