1989 Nissan Sentra 145000(engine always accelerated)

My nissan is always accelerating, even when the car is stopped or is in neutral. I cant find out what it is...my gas mileage is dirt low because my rpm is always at at least 2500-3000. I tried moving the distributor(time) and the engine reduced but after about 20 seconds it accelerated back to 2500. Do you know what this could be?

Leakage on these areas can cause your problem: injector o-rings, intake manifold gasket, throttle body gasket, vacuum hoses and fittings-to include the the brake booster and the evap purge valve.

Also you can do an inital adjustment of the throttle position sensor. Or try cleaning out the throttle body.

Try cleaning out the throttle body especially around the throttle plate-then check the idle air adjusting unit or the FICD fast idle control device.
