FUSES FOR TAIL LIGHT

2005 Nissan Maxima

Electrical problem
2005 Nissan Maxima 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

I have no tail lights. I tested the wiring going to the lights and there is no juice. What do I do now. Where should I look for the fuses or fuse box for my tail lights. I have brake lights, hazards, and blinkers just no tail lights.

Are the license plate lights still working? If so then the fuse is not at fault, may be wiring issue either at taillight assemblies or at headlight switch.

Here's a brief description (from the factory service manual) of how they work for 2002 Max. Yours should be very similar: The parking, license and tail lamp operation is controlled by the lighting switch which is built into the combination
switch and smart entrance control unit. The battery saver system is controlled by the smart entrance
control unit.
Power is supplied at all times
I to tail lamp relay terminals 1 and 3
I through 10A fuse (No. 60, located in the fuse and fusible link box), and
I to smart entrance control unit terminal 49
I through 10A fuse [No. 13, located in the fuse block (J/B)].
When ignition switch is in ON or START position, power is supplied
I to smart entrance control unit terminal 27
I through 10A fuse [No. 10, located in the fuse block (J/B)].
When the ignition switch is in the ACC or ON position, power is supplied
I to smart entrance control unit terminal 26
I through 10A fuse [No. 1, located in the fuse block (J/B)].
Ground is supplied to smart entrance control unit terminals 43 and 64
I through body grounds M9, M25 and M87.
LIGHTING OPERATION BY LIGHTING SWITCH
NFEL0256S01
When lighting switch is in 1ST (or 2ND) position, ground is supplied
I to tail lamp relay terminal 2 from smart entrance control unit terminals 19 and 57
I through smart entrance control unit terminals 20 and 58, and
I through lighting switch and body grounds E11, E22 and E53.
I to stop and tail lamp unit terminal 6
I through body grounds T6 and T8.
Tail lamp relay is energized and power is supplied
I to stop and tail lamp unit terminal 4
I through tail lamp relay terminal 5
I to each rear combination lamp terminals 1
I through stop and tail lamp unit terminal 3.
When the tail lamp illuminates, ground is supplied
I through body grounds T6 and T8
I to each rear combination lamp terminal 6.
Tail lamp relay is then energized and the parking, license, side marker and tail lamps illuminate.
