How go you check to see if there is power to the starter. Battery is good. How do you check to see if starter is good?

Hi akwhitebear,

Thank you for the donation and sorry for the delay in answering.

Starter receives its main power from the battery. The positive battery terminal cable is directly attached to the starter so to check it you just have to ensure the nut is securely tightened.

To test if starter is in working condition, remove the starter solenoid wire and atttach a remote wire. Apply battery voltage to it and if starter cranks, it is working. Try a few times and if each time it works, the starter should be ok. This is a basic test for on vehicle. A load test would be more accurate.

To test if it is the igniton switch power supply, attach a test lamp to the starter solenoid wire and turn ignition switch to START, light shoud show indicating the circuit is ok.

This link shoud be helpful.
