Four cylinder two wheel drive automatic 104,000 miles.

Just wondering where the shift solenoid is located? I took it into an auto store and they hooked it up to the computer and it said that it was the shift solenoid.

Hi Ashake,

What was the trouble codes retrieved?

The shift solenoids are inside the transmission and can be accessed by dropping the oil pan.

Here are the description of the codes:

DTC P0700: INTERNAL CONTROL MODULE FAILURE

If this DTC is present, record and clear DTC. If DTC returns, replace TCM and retest system. Ensure DTC does not return.

DTC P0755: 2-4 SOLENOID CIRCUIT ERROR

DTC P1782: 2-4 PRESSURE SWITCH CIRCUIT

Problem is a likely TCM problem and not the solenoids.

Well, thank you for all that information. But now I am wondering what the TCM is? Is that the Trans-axle control module or the transmission control module? Where is it located and is it a pretty easy fix? Do you want to come and fix my car? LOL

Sorry, I am too far away to be able to perform the repair for you. TCM = Transmission control module or trans-axle control module. It is located behind center of dash and removal is not really difficult. Removing the underdash cover would allow you to see the TCM. It is bolted on one side and slotted in at the other.
