When under acceleration, especially if I have to get on it a little, I can hear popping noises and occasionally the engine feels as though it is seizing up. This only lasts for a second or two after I let off of the accelerator. At that point it will go back to operating somewhat normally. If I just kind of feather the throttle and baby it, I do not seem to have as much trouble. I have scanned it and got a p1309, which is a camshaft position sensor code. I am not really sure that is the issue considering I replaced the CPS about 3,500 miles ago and have only recently developed this issue. I have also cleaned the throttle body and O2 sensors, since initially thought it might be a lack of air flow. It also pulled a p0171 and p0174. But again no difference. At this point, I am seriously considering using a match to fix the darn thing, but unfortunately, it is my daily driver.
Any help or ideas would be sincerely appreciated.

Hello,

This sounds like you have a flat camshaft or a broken valve spring. Here is a guide to help you can what is going on. I would remove the valve covers and check the springs and while they are off check to make sure all rockers are going up and down the proper amount.

Please let us know what you find.
