I am having a problem with my braking in my 1994 Mercury Villager I apply the brakes and sometimes the brakes grab hard and then pulls my van to the side and then goes to the floor it makes a grinding sound when this is happening, any clues?[/B]

This could be the same problem or two problems. Which side is it pulling to? Take that apart and look at the brakes and I am assuming it is front and disc. Check for a brake fluid leak.

When that pedal goes to the floor you have problems and I wouldn't venture down the road with it as you are a liability to others and yourself.

I suspect that the fluid level in the master must be slowly dropping. Leaking brakes fluid on brake can cause the brake to work but as the brake gets warmer the fluid starts to evaporate leaving a sticky residue which grabs the brake and then you end up grabbing harder than the opposite side brake and pulling.

There is no brake fluid leak, the question I have is the brakes were just replaced, does the vehicle have to be running in order to bleed them, correctly?
It pulls right for you question of which way it is pulling.
Would there be a problem with the anti-lock system?
