2004 Mercury Sable GS, Mileage: 38529 k

I just recently purchased this car (July 15, 2006). The warranty that originally was on the car went only to 36k miles (when first purchased mileage was at 35813). About 3-4 days ago, I notice while driving at normal speed (around 40-50 miles) the car will slow down. When it first occurred, I hit the acceleration which only caused it to go slower and the rpms to go only to 2. Although it happens occasionally, I am worried. I went to AutoZone this morning to get a battery (couldnt crank up this morning). Could it have been the battery causing the deceleration or something else? Please help me somebody :(

Hello...I had the same problem with my 2002 Sable LS

I had to replace the fuel rail pressure sensor...piece of cake as it only has two screws with very easy access. However, it was a dealer only item.

Under $100, as I don't remember the exact price.

As many others have written, if the check engine light is on, AUTOZONE will read it for free.

Hope this helps.
