I would suggest replacing your plenum gasket also if you go that route. It's not very hard to do, just basic r&r.

How do I get to the spark plugs on firewall side of engine?
I haveread rthat I need to remove part of intake manifold, Fellow at parts store suggested I disconnect exhaust and one engine mount to tilt engine forward and access plugs that way.
I also need to replace O2 sensor on that bank.

I would leave the exhaust alone and get the gasket set for the tune up. You let a flex pipe this old hang and you WILL be replaceing it! If it makes you nervous to take an intake off give the job to someone else. Cheaper in the long run.

What seems to be your problem/

was teh odometer messed up before you did the tranny change?

When you say odometer do you mean speedometer or tachometer, or infact the odometer, thing that shows your miles traveld?

On this car you must remove the engine torque mounts and roll the engine forward held by a block of wood. Here is a guide to walk you through the steps on replacing the plugs.

Please let us know if you need anything else to get the problem fixed.

Cheers, Ken

Sorry about the lack of info. 24 Valve DOHC 3.0 L engine. Looks like the intake will have to come off, but I wasn't sure if you accessed it through the interior or by removal of the intake system. The engine mount tip was great. I just put it in park and moved the car moved the engine right over, plenty of room.
