I just had servicing in my car after the servicing. I start up the engine I was accelerating at around 4,000 rpm suddenly my engine made a strange noise I saw that my arm rocker broke down. Have it damage my engine or I just need to change mt arm rocker?

Hi Sashi,

Usually, when part of the valve train breaks, it does not cause catastrophic engine damage unless a valve drops down in the cylinder. If just your rocker arm broke, then more than likely you are okay. However, the only ways to know is either disassemble the engine and inspect it or use a camera called a borescope to look down in the cylinders for any damage. Or you could just repair what you see and then test the engine and see if there are any other issues.

If it were me, I would just do an inspection of what you can see and while you are replacing the components you know are broken and then retest it.

The only thing that has me concerned is what caused the rocker arm to break? If the piston came up and hit the valve and that is what broke the rocker arm then you will have more damage. Again, you should see this when you inspect the cylinders with a borescope.

Let me know if you need more info and I will be happy to assist. Thanks
