Mazda B2200 SE-5 2.2, 275,000. Just as I read on the forum my truck smokes when you start stops quickly then runs clean, I was told when I bought the truck that the head gasket needed replacing. At the moment runs wonderful. When I start I wait for the thermostat to kick in and add water to the rad and it will run till I need a rad top up, rad hose leaks a little, my cheapness is the culpret for that I presume. Help me? Already have a new head gasket waiting.

Thank you. Al

Smoke that appear's during engine start up, then disapear's a few minutes later is a good indication of bad Valve seals. If you are going to do your head gasket soon, that is the perfect time to do it. Although you do not need to remove the head to replace them.
