Transmission problem
1991 Mazda MPV 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Automatic

while going down the road i heard a loud pop noise then the van just stopped accelerating.i got it off the road and tried to switch gears and it sounded and felt like it was going in the gears just when i pushed the gas it didnt move.what could be the problem? or what should i check?

it sounds like the timing belt popped or the throttle cable popped, take a look under the hood and see if you can see anything that might look abnormal , if you can find the throttle cable check it to see if it is broke, or have someone press on the accelerator while the car is off and look at the moving parts on top of the engine to see if it is broken, let me know what happens

the motor revs up but no movement

check the transmission fluid level and top off if needed, however you may have a broken u joint
