I have a 1997 Mazda 626 LX with 58,000 miles on it.
It is an automatic transmission with 2 wheel drive. I had a transmission tune-up a little over a year ago and never had problems until a day ago. I was driving at a constant speed of 65 mph and all of a sudden the transmission started to shift gears as if it wasn't sure which gear to be in. It was jerking. I tried to excelerate and the car picked up speed but wasn't shifting to the right gear. Am I low on fluid? Is my transmission going? I did have an oil change last week, could that have something to do with it? I take good care of this car however, it don't feel like it. Please help me and send me in the right direction.

Thank you!

I've got a 1997 Mazda 626, automatic with 200,000km. Was driving it on the highway the yesterday when the car suddenly down-shifted, then up-shifted, and jerked. I was at constant speed at the time, and this erratic behavior would last maybe 30 sec before the car finds the right gear. The same thing then happened again in 20-30 minutes. Today the car is driving OK on city streets but had trouble once going into reverse and the engine light came on. There's no transmission fluid leak. Please give me some advice as to what this could be. It's the weekend right now and I'm having trouble finding someone to look at it. Thanks a lot
