I have a 1995 mazda 626, 2.0l, Automatic trans. With about 151,121 miles. The transmission in reverse, drive, and second gear does not do anything. First gear the car sometimes moves but when it does it jerks then it quits alltogether. The trans. Whines when the car is cranked too. Overdrive light blinks in dash constantly. I have no clue what could be the problem.

Hi there,

It sound like you have suffered a terminal failure in the transmission. First check the transmission fluid, this is done with the engine running and the transmission in park. If the oil is very low, top up with approved oil and test response, if oil is a dirty drown colour and smells burnt, something may have failed in the transmission. You will have to remove the transmission pan and check for any foreign bodies in the oil.

Well thanks for the reply.I went and bought a transmission from a place called pull a part, the only one was from a 98 626 and I called auto zone and they said it shold fit. I decided to replace the whole transmission since it is probably shot. You can email me at aarondw1@yahoo. Com.
