My engine is making a loud grinding noise while running. The A/C is off not braking or turning. I thought the sound was tension-er pulley sense that is where the noise seemed to be coming from after replacing the tension-er pulley engine is still making the same noise. I have recently had my water pump changed. The car is not overheating and the oil level is fine. Please help.

Good morning.

I would remove the belt and run the engine without the belt and see if it is belt driven noise. If it is, then you need to spin whatever pulley is driven to see if you hear the noise.

If it does not, then it may be under the cover, such as water pump, timing chain tensioner or pulley bearing.
